• Building SAP PM Champions Education

    Some organizations desire to implement an SAP PM training capability internally and often utilize the SAP PM Power Users or “Experts” to perform the training. To effectively implement this strategy, two sets of skills are needed in these internal resources:

    • Mastery of the Subject Matter to be taught
    • The Ability and Patience to ensure learning occurs in the teaching process.

    Or in layman’s terms, just because you know the subject does not automatically make you an effective teacher.

    Reliability Solutions, Inc. has developed a “Train the Trainer” process that teaches (if necessary) the subject matter, tests for experience and mastery, and then coaches the skills to effectively communicate and coach their students with the intent to leave the training skills in house, thus lowering the overall training costs.

    Education Focus

    The education process begins with a review of the organization’s business processes and end goals from the training and what each role is responsible for and held accountable to execute. Then the training documentation is customized based on those business goals and delivered to the training team. If changes or adjustments to the training material are needed, they are made and finalized to be used for training the remainder of the organization. This education will focus on the following:

    • Selecting the most skilled and credible people in the organization.
    • Deliver an in-depth training for those selected and develop a strong knowledge base. (Typically a longer time frame than basic training)
    • Using the training system (or Sandbox), practice these skills using pre-defined demos and then individually demonstrate the mastery of the skills.
    • Each trainer will perform a module of the training in front of the class and will be evaluated. Feedback will be given and each trainer will be asked to apply that feedback and continue the process until they are comfortable and fluent.
    • Set up teams of teacher / coach to take advantage of the skills and allow for a feedback and improvement process and support.

    RSI will then ensure that the trainees have all the concepts and understanding needed to perform the training on their own by utilizing detailed sign-off sheets. This will allow for each skill to be signed off by both the RSI instructor and the trainee that will ensure a firm understanding of each skill and will also give the trainee the opportunity for further coaching and explanation if it is needed.
